Mery Concepción Pacheco is an Afro-Caribbean immigrant, abolitionist, and writer building and thinking at the intersection of the literary arts, prison abolition, and creative storytelling. One of the founding editors of Freedom Meridian, a digital vertical of Apogee Journal publishing works exclusively by incarcerated artists, she now serves as the Journal’s Co-Director. Her writing, which deals with themes of embodiment, familial unravelings, racial (un)becomings, has been published by Poets & Writers Magazine, Newtown Literary, QA Poetry and elsewhere. She lives, dreams, and loves in the margins.
